Intact and Damage Stability of Ships and Offshore Structures – Bridging the Gap
نویسندگان
چکیده
The continuous push towards improved technologies allows designers to resolve the naval architecture problems with a higher reliability and to optimize designs. In this process it becomes increasingly important to recognize that most statutes and the Industry practice at large have depended on a few criteria to cover a very large number of hazards. Tools such as hazard identification and risk are becoming a dominating aspect of design in general and naval architecture in particular. The paper considers several examples of stability failures that can be called unconventional. Attempts to resolve the root cause of these failures may lead to a solution incompatible with the purpose of ship or an offshore installation.

Second Generation IMO Intact Stability Vulnerability Criteria and its Application to ships Navigating in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea
Second generation intact stability criteria for few past years had been under development by International Maritime Organization (IMO). Since the draft proposed amendments shall be amended to International code on Intact Stability (IS code 2008), new regulations shall enter into force for ships of length more than 24 meter. Generally second generation intact stability criteria (SGISC) refers to...
متن کاملHull Performance Assessment and Comparison of Ship-Shaped and Cylindrical FPSOs With Regards To: Stability, Sea-Keeping, Mooring and Riser Loads In Shallow Water
Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading “FPSO” have become a popular choice since 1980s for marginal and fast-track developments where subsea pipeline is not an economic or feasible solution for export. Field development usually starts with a concept selection procedure which is constituted from a sequence of multi-disciplinary decision making tasks. As limited data is availabl...
متن کاملParametric Study of SCFs in Unstiffened Gap Tubular KT-joints of Offshore Structures under OPB Moment Loading
In this paper, results extracted from a set of stress analyses performed on 46 FE models for unstiffened gap tubular KT-joints are presented and discussed. The main objective of the FE analyses, validated against experimental data, was to run a parametric investigation on the effects of geometrical characteristics of the joint on the values of the stress concentration factors (SCFs). The SCF is...
متن کاملSeismic Reliability Evaluation of the Jacket Structure of an Offshore Platform Based on Nonlinear Time History Analyses
Regarding the previous earthquake damages in offshore structures, as vital structures in the oil and gas industries, it is important that their seismic design will be performed with very high reliability. Accepting the Nonlinear Time History Analyses (NLTHA) as the most reliable seismic analysis method, in this paper an offshore platform of jacket type with the height of 304 feet and with a dec...
متن کاملEvaluation of Turbulence on the Dynamics of Monopile Offshore Wind Turbine under the Wave and Wind Excitations
In recent years, the use of offshore wind turbines has been considered on the agenda of the countries which have a significant maritime boundary due to more speed and stability of wind at sea. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of wind turbulence on the aero-hydrodynamic behavior of offshore wind turbines with a monopile platform. Since in the sea, the wind turbine structures ar...
